For Ed Brubaker’s first live action feature, he taps Tarantino’s favorite stunt woman, Zoe Bell, to play the lead.
- Ed Brubaker is a master story mixologist, effortlessly combining genres. In his current comic outing, the best selling “Incognito,” he takes a comic book progenitor, the pulps, and a pulp descendant, noir fiction, and pairs them like a scotch and soda. In Angel of Death he takes the crime comic genre and puts it squarely in the world of exploitative Grindhouse style cinema.
- Angel pairs two old Kiwi buddies. Zoe Bell and Lucy Lawless who first worked together back when Bell was only 19, and doing rolls and back flips as Lawless’s stuntwoman on Xena: Warrior Princess. Alone they’re kickin’ – together they just kick ass.
- Ted Raimi has a long tradition in the genre of blood, not only was B movie legend Bruce Campbell his childhood babysitter, but his brother Sam helped make him a legend as a demon on the movie Evil Dead.
- Listen closely to the soundtrack, and you might hear some familiar strains. Toadies platinum selling guitarist, Darrel Herbert, did the score.

Lucy Lawless, Doug Jones, and Ted Raimi all show up for the ride, but few come out alive. If the sight of blood bothers you, just keep your eyes on her other assets, and remember she can grab your heart with her looks or her hand, your choice.

My mother left before I was old enough to know her. My father said that was a good thing. He said she was a whore. My father and I moved around a lot when I was younger. He traveled for work. He was smart, funny and emotionally void. He taught me guns and knives and hand to hand. I craved that time, it was the only time I spent with him - for many years it was the only time I spent with anyone. I didn't go to school much. I read a lot. When I was fifteen he took me with him to work. He said it was target practice. It wasn't very good target practice. The guy was bound and gagged and laying within feet of where I was standing. Hardly a moving target. I didn't understand. He showed me a photo of a young girl, my age- shot in the head, dead. I had never seen anything like it. I felt sick. He told me her name was Angela, that she was the target's daughter. He said it should have been me. He said this would be killing two birds with one stone. He said excuse the pun.
