- This is the sequel to the rock classic That’ll Be The Day that also featured Keith Moon and Ringo Starr. Moon reprises his role as the character J.D. Clover but Starr turned down the chance to reprise his role of Mike.

- Larry Hagman, Major Nelson from I Dream of Jeannie, appears as the character Porter Lee Austin. Originally the part was intended for Martain Balsom (Cape Fear, St. Elmo’s Fire)
