Witch doctors + zombies + Vincent Price = old school horror gold.
-Lawrence Huntington, who had written the original draft of the film's screenplay (based off of the story by Edgar Allen Poe), died just eleven days into the production of the movie.
- Michael Reeves was originally chosen to direct this movie, but died during the pre-production. There seems to be a lot of deaths surrounding this film. Kind of creepy.
-There is some mystery surrounding the actual conditions of Edger Allen Poe’s death. In October 1849, he was found lying in a gutter, drunk, barely conscious and wearing someone else's clothing. He died shortly thereafter of apparent alcohol poisoning. However there are some who believe that there may have been other reasons for his demise.
A British aristocrat buries his disfigured brother alive, but the body is dug up by a local physician. Still alive, the brother begins a systematic search for vengeance.
