Nicole Kidman (in her coolest role) anchors a gifted cast in this biting, media crucifying Gus Van Zandt-directed satire.

-This was Casey Affleck’s feature film debut. After the film wrapped, he brought director Gus Van Sant a script written by his brother Ben’s friend Matt Damon. It later became Good Will Hunting (1997).

-Meg Ryan was the first choice for the role of Suzanne Stone for 5 million but declined. We think that Nicole Kidman is perfect for this. She was only paid 2 million. So unfair.

-The film is in based on the real-life case of Pamela Smart, who seduced her 15-year old lover into murdering her husband.

Synopsis:

Little Hope, New Hampshire, is the center of a media whirlwind involving lovely local weather girl Suzanne Stone (Nicole Kidman) and murder most foul. She's prepared to bump off anyone who stands in her way, which is too bad for hubby Larry (Matt Dillon), a small-town tavern-keeper who saw his best days in high school.
